Dilini Karunarathna, is a young woman who has faced adversity head on and overcome them with determination and courage. Manna Foods was driven by her commitment to social work and education. She wanted to support some of the kids in her community, so Dilini ventured into selling home-made chilli paste to make some extra money. But with time and due to specific difficulties in her personal life, she decided to expand her hobby into a business to take care of her son. Currently, Manna Foods is registered as a Private Limited Company.

Over the years, Manna Foods has quickly evolved to include a diverse range of products, mainly focusing on healthy local cooked food prepared with organic ingredients. With support from Made by Her she improved her packaging to suit different food types. Her products have already piqued the interest of international markets, leading to indirect exports to approximately nine countries, including Hong Kong, Canada, the USA, and Australia. However, she aspires to export directly and is looking into getting the proper certification, albeit a challenging endeavour for an SME.  

Her latest venture is the establishment of a Cafe/Juice Bar with a delightful selection of sweet baked goods, healthy food options and fresh fruit drinks in her hometown, Pilimathalawa. She also operates a catering business for events and occasions in her district. These services allow her to provide full-time employment to two women in production, one woman at her Cafe and several other women as part-timers during stalls.
